Creative Genius Runs Amok..Like a Turkey with Its Head Cut Off

This weekend the girls made turkey cookies--happy little turkey cookies like this:

I was helping and taking pictures when I noticed a strange aberation among the happy little turkey cookies. One of them had three eyes.

"What is this?" I asked.

"That one," replied The Younger Daughter sweetly, "is a mutant. You don't have to worry about him, though. He's nice. It's the devil turkeys I'm making with the red M&M's that you have to watch out for."

We ate the devil turkeys promptly, lest they slay us. Thus, sadly, no pictures.

Ah, they are so like you . . . :)

Very wise, I think, to eat the devil cookies without taking pictures; could be dangerous, you know, giving them undue attention. I hope the mutant had a satisfactory end. :)

Although normally I wouldn't endorse eating what plagues you as the best way of dealing with problems, I think that in this case it was very justified. Well done.

The odd thing is that we don't emphasize heavy "devil" philosophy, and we certainly don't watch the kinds of scary movies that might put the notion in a child's head, so I've no idea where the devil turkey cookie idea came from. She is, however, as intimately acquainted with mutant theory as any child of parents who have an affinity for science fiction (and uncles with extensive comic book collections, alas!).

Alaiyo--Don't be ridiculous. I only have two eyes, and neither of them are red!

;)

Colleen--I'd never considered eating what plagues me to deal with the problem. Now that you mention it, though, I'll have to ponder the possibility. I am faintly apprehensive.

Yesterday I checked to see what the second comment was and re-read mine -- first time I realized the other way it could certainly be read! :)

Love you, dear friend, red eyes or no!

"Devil Turkeys" hilarious! I'll have to remember the turkey cookies for next year.
